Dr. Axel Steiger-Bagel has been a member of the Board of Management of Bayer MaterialScience AG since March 2007. As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), he is member of the Executive Committee and responsible for Administration and Services. Previously he worked as Managing Director, Senior Bayer Representative and Bayer HealthCare Senior Country Representative in Turkey.
Born on December 29, 1967, in Düren, Germany, Axel Steiger-Bagel trained as a banker before taking a law degree. After graduating, he went on to obtain a PhD in international company law. He then spent around two years working for a renowned corporate law firm in Germany and the U.S. before joining the Legal Department at Bayer AG in 1999. At the beginning of 2002 he transferred to the Corporate Office, where he worked as Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Management until he took up his functions in Turkey in 2006.
